Christopher Llinas is an American attorney specializing in criminal, DUI, traffic, juvenile, and immigration removal defense law. He is known for his extensive experience in representing immigrants in criminal and motor vehicle cases in the State of Connecticut. Early Life and Education
Christopher Llinas was born and raised in Western New York and Central Pennsylvania. He developed a passion for the legal profession at an early age and dedicated himself to pursuing a career in law. Llinas attended Salisbury University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in English (Magna cum Laude) in 1989. Driven by his ambition to advocate for justice after college, Llinas enrolled in Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord, New Hampshire (now the University of New Hampshire School of Law) where he obtained his Juris Doctor Degree in 1997. During his time at law school, Llinas excelled academically and graduated second out of a class of 128 students. He also participated in various extracurricular activities, including serving as a Teaching Assistant for Civil Procedure and Constitutional Law, competing in the National Health Law Moot Court and National Trial Advocacy Competiton’s, and writing for the Annual Survey of New Hampshire Law.
Legal Career
Christopher Llinas has had a diverse legal career, with experience in both private practice and public service. He began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender at the Maryland Office of the Public Defender in Salisbury, Maryland, where he represented indigent clients in felony and misdemeanor criminal and traffic cases from May 1999 to August 2002. Llinas then joined the Worcester County State’s Attorney’s Office in Snow Hill and Ocean City, Maryland, where he served as an Assistant State’s Attorney from September 2002 to October 2003. In this role, he prosecuted felony and misdemeanor criminal and traffic cases in the Circuit and District Courts of Worcester County. From October 2003 to September 2006, Llinas operated his solo law practice, primarily focusing on criminal and traffic defense work. In September 2006, he joined the corporate world as part of Royal Plus, Inc., a disaster restoration industry leader based in Snow Hill, Maryland. Initially serving as the company’s HR, Collections, and Risk Management personnel, Llinas later transitioned to the role of Corporate Counsel, where he managed the company’s involvement with various law-related matters and served as a liaison for litigation and governmental entities. In April 2015, Llinas returned to private practice and opened J. Christopher Llinas, Attorney at Law, a solo law practice in Ocean Pines, Maryland. He primarily focused on criminal defense, DUI/traffic defense, and appellate advocacy throughout the state of Maryland until October 2017. Llinas is currently practicing criminal defense law in Connecticut, where he continues to advocate for his clients facing a wide range of criminal charges.

Christopher Llinas is an active member of several legal associations, including the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National College of DUI Defense (serving as the Connecticut State Delegate), and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Llinas is admitted to practice law in both Connecticut and Maryland. He is also admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Notable Personal Achievements
In addition to his legal career, J. Christopher Llinas is an avid endurance athlete. He has completed 30+ marathons, including the Boston Marathon in 2015 and 2016. Llinas has also completed numerous half-marathons, 10-milers, and shorter races. Furthermore, Llinas has participated in various triathlons, including 5 Ironman distance triathlons, 8 half Ironman’s, and numerous shorter races. He has also engaged in other challenging physical endeavors, such as swimming 12.5 miles around Key West in 2017. In 2023, he will compete in the Miami Marathon, Ironman Cork, and the New York City Marathon Llinas is dedicated to raising money for select charities through the Ironman Foundation and actively maintains a fitness routine that often includes swimming, running, biking, surfing, lifting, or yoga.
